Editing & Formatting Your Content

In WordPress, you may also edit and format your content to look the way you want by using the Visual Editor.

What is a Visual Editor?

WordPress - Visual Editor

The Visual Editor allows you to format your content just like you would in any word processor.

Following are a few editing functions you can perform using the visual editor tools:

  1. Bold
  2. Italic
  3. Strike-through
  4. Bullet list (bullet points):
    • Item 1
    • Item 2
  5. Numbered list
    1. Item 1
    2. Item 2
  6. Block quote (a way of displaying quoted text; each theme will style this differently.)
  7. Centre
  8. Font Size
  9. Text color
  10. And much more…..

The visual editor contains two rows of formatting icons.

However, in some instances when you open up WordPress for the first time you may see only one single row.

What you need to do to view both rows of icons is click on the “kitchen sink” icon to display the second row.

    Hi Domenic,

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website and for commenting.

WordPress is available in two platforms: wordpress.com and wordpress.org. Let me know what your website will be used for and I will recommend which platform to go with.
    Warmest regards!

  • You’ve broken it down into simple steps. Thank you. My question is do you use a theme like Optimize Press or use one of the wordpress themes? I’ve noticed, when I put mine together, many photos have boxes around them which looks very unprofessional. Can that be helped?
